How to take your Shilajit
Four steps, once a day. Below you will also find the 50 + 10 day rhythm, what to do when the resin goes hard in winter, where the best-before date and batch number are, and three simple checks you can do at home.
In four steps
Takes about two minutes

1. Take
Use the enclosed spoon to take 400 mg of resin, about the size of a pea. Always use a dry spoon.

2. Dissolve
Put the resin into a glass or cup of warm, not hot, water, tea or milk. Drinking temperature is enough; do not heat the resin above body temperature.

3. Stir
Stir for one to two minutes until nothing is left at the bottom. If resin sticks to the spoon, simply leave the spoon in the drink while you stir.

4. Drink
Drink it, once a day, at whatever time suits your routine. Then rinse and dry the spoon and close the jar tightly.
The 50 + 10 rhythm
Take 400 mg a day for 50 days, then pause for 10 days. After that, start the next jar.
- 50 days, 400 mg a day
- 10 days rest
One 20 g jar holds 20000 mg. At 400 mg a day that is 50 servings, so one jar is exactly one cycle of about two months.
A simple check: if your jar is empty much sooner than after 50 days, your servings are larger than 400 mg.
Hard resin in winter
Cold makes pure resin hard and brittle, for example after a cool journey or on a cold windowsill. That is normal and not a sign of a damaged product. Warmth makes it soft again.
- Put the closed jar in a bowl of warm, not hot, water.
- Wait a few minutes. The warmth softens the resin.
- Take the jar out, dry it and use it as usual.
Quicker for one serving: hold the closed jar in your hand for a few minutes.
Do not put it in the microwave, do not boil it, do not put it on the radiator.
Storage, best-before date and batch number
- Where
- Cool, dry and away from light, for example in a cupboard. A fridge is not needed.
- Spoon
- Always dry. Water in the jar is the one thing to avoid with a natural product that is in use for weeks.
- Lid
- Close it tightly after every use.
Where to find the dates
The best-before date and the batch number (Los-Nr.) are printed on the box. Keep the box while you use the jar. The best-before date tells you until when the product keeps its properties if stored as described.
Example, current batch
Best before: 02.07.2027
Batch no.: HM-SH-25-BLY-1159
3 home checks for genuine Shilajit
These checks give you orientation on how pure resin usually behaves. They are not proof: only a laboratory analysis can show what a resin contains.
Check 1
Warm water
Stir a pea-sized amount into a glass of warm, not hot, water.
Pure resin dissolves within a few minutes and turns the water golden to dark brown, with no sand at the bottom and no oily film on top.
Check 2
Cold
Put the closed jar in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Pure resin turns hard and brittle and can be broken. If it stays soft and kneadable, that is unusual.
Check 3
Hand warmth
Hold a small piece of cooled resin between thumb and finger for a few minutes.
Pure resin softens with body heat, turns sticky and can be pulled like thick honey.
Proof only comes from a laboratory analysis. For our current batch, the measured values are on the lab values page.
Frequently asked questions
How much is 400 mg?
About the size of a pea, taken with the enclosed spoon. A 20 g jar holds 50 such servings, so the jar lasting about 50 days is the easiest check that your amount is right.
Can I take the resin straight?
Yes. You can let the pea-sized amount dissolve in your mouth. Many find the earthy, bitter taste too intense on its own and prefer it in a drink. The amount stays the same: 400 mg a day.
Morning or evening?
Whichever fits your routine. There is no reliable data that favours one time of day. Stay with one serving a day.
Why 10 days of rest?
The rest is part of our recommended intake: 50 days on, 10 days off, one jar per cycle. We do not derive any health effect from it.
Can I take more than that?
No. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake of 400 mg.
Who should ask a doctor first?
Pregnant and breastfeeding women, children and adolescents, and anyone with a chronic condition or taking medication regularly should consult a doctor before use. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
